"In My City" is the debut single by Indian actress and recording artist Priyanka Chopra, featuring guest vocals from American rapper will.i.am. The song was released on 14 September 2012, as the lead single from Chopra's untitled debut studio album. "In My City" was written by Chopra, Ester Dean and RedOne, while the latter also produced the song along with Rush and Brian Kennedy. Chopra had always wanted to be a singer, but never pursued it because of her acting career. After being introduced to Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M records, by Anjula Acharia-Bath the owner of DesiHits, Iovine was impressed by Chopra's recording and the ideas behind her music. She signed a worldwide recording agreement with Universal Music Group and DesiHits.
