Info

Facebook Home, the social networking giant’s attempt to convert your Android smartphone into a Facebook-oriented device might have seen a mixed reaction from the public, but the truth is, it’s officially available for only five Android smartphones at present, and not everyone has been able to try the new launcher for themselves.

First and foremost, I’d like to thank Android developer Paul O’Brien, as his efforts have made Facebook Home available to all devices, even unrooted ones. That is correct. You do not have to be rooted to give Facebook Home a try.

The folks at Modaco extracted the Facebook Home APK file and made it available for everyone.

Things You Need

  • Android smartphone running on Android 4.0 or higher.
  • Facebook app by MoDaCo - Download
  • Facebook Messenger app by MoDaCo - Download
  • Modified Facebook Home app - Download
After you’ve downloaded these files, follow some simple steps which have been mentioned below, to get Facebook Home on your device
  • Before you start the process, you need to uninstall the Facebook app and Facebook Messenger app if they are currently installed on your smartphone. Sadly, if you’re smartphone came pre-installed with these apps, you will need to root your smartphone in order to uninstall them.
  • Now, go into Settings > Security and then  check the box which says “Unknown Sources”.
  • Copy the three downloaded apps to your phone or you can download the apps directly to your smartphone as well. Once done, you’ll need a file manager app to access the downloaded apps. Popular File Manager apps like ES File Manager, Astro File Manager, etc. can be downloaded from the play store for this purpose.
  • Now, once you spot the three downloaded apps, click on the Facebook app (com.facebook.katana.modaco.apk) to install it first. Then, click on the Messenger app (com.facebook.orca.modaco.apk) to install it, and finally, install the Facebook  Home app (com.facebook.home.modaco.apk) as well.
  • Once installed, the three apps should appear on your smartphone like in the image below.

  • Now, open the Facebook app and enter your credentials to log-in. Once you’re logged in, tap the “Menu” icon located at the top-left of the app, then, go to Accounts > App Settings and check the “Enable Facebook Home” box.

  • When prompted, select Facebook Home and then tap on “Always”.

  • That’s it! Give some time for the launcher to load-up and once it’s done, you’ll have your own, personal Facebook Phone!

Little Info

We all use Facebook everyday and we also know about Facebook pages. When you create any page on Facebook, you will see 'Invite Friends' option.

When you click this, then you have to select all your friends by clicking on their names. This thing is very boring because you have to just click, click and click.

You should use Google Chrome and Mozilla firefox to make this trick work because these two browsers are mostly used on this planet Earth.

Steps to select all friends at once

1. Open Google Chrome

2. Now open any page and click invite friends where you can invite your friends

3. Click on 'Search All Friends' from the drop down menu on the left and scroll down until all your friends appears in the box.

4. Press CTRL+SHIFT+J (for Chrome), CTRL+SHIFT+K (for FireFox)

5. A window will open in bottom or top of the browser

6. Paste this line of JavaScript code in the console.

javascript:elms=document.getElementsByName("checkableitems[]");for (i=0;i<elms.length;i++){if (elms[i].type="checkbox" )elms[i].click()};

After pasting click enter, now wait for a minute and and when all friends are selected click on send, if you have large number of friends it may take about 1 - 2 minutes for successfully sending the invites .

In this tutorial I will be calling the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad as iOS Devices as they all run the iOS firmware to make the devices work. So when I say iOS devices, I actually mean the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad. These methods of installing apps will work on all the devices.

First off let me tell you, I am assuming that you have already jailbroken your device. All of the following will only work if you have a jailbroken iOS system and also if Cydia is installed. Secondly, let me also tell you that I am doing this just for educational purposes.

Jailbreak 6.0: For those of you that have already updated to iOS 6, we have some good news. There is already a usable jailbreak if you have an A4 or earlier device, which includes the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, and iPhone 3GS. Read on to learn how to jailbreak these devices. The newest update to Redsn0w also means you wont have to go through the process of SSHing into your device to install Cydia, Redsn0w once again does that for you.

Untethered vs. Tethered

An untethered jailbreak means you can turn off your device and reboot without the use of a computer.

A tethered jailbreak means you can not reboot your device if you turn it off without the use of a computer.

Note: This only supports the devices listed in the title, any device with an A4 processor or earlier. Additionally, this jailbreak will be tethered, so you will have to repeat the last steps of this tutorial every time you restart your device.

Tethered

- iPhone 4

- iPhone 3GS new bootrom

- iPod Touch 4G

Untethered

- iPhone 3GS old bootrom

Downloads

Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 (MAC / Windows)

Steps

Note: This is a tethered jailbreak for developers only. This jailbreak is only compatible with pre-A5 devices like the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch 4th generation.

1. Download and install iOS 6.0/6.0.1 on your Apple device. If you have already done this then leave this step.

2. Download RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 from above.

3. Ensure you have iOS 6.0 available for your device on your computer, if not, download the iOS 6.0/6.0.1 firmware file for your specific device via our downloads page.

4. Connect your iOS device to your computer, and place your iOS device into DFU mode.

~ How Do I Put my Device into DFU mode?

4.1 - Hold the power button and home button for 15 seconds the both with each other.

4.2 - Then release the power button but keep holding the home button for another 15 seconds.

4.3 -  The screen will go black like this

5. Open RedSn0w and ensure it recognizes your device at the bottom of the screen as being in DFU mode.

6. Click Extras > Select IPSW > and point to the iOS 6.0 firmware file that we discussed in Step 3. It should successfully identify your firmware file.

7. Go back to the main page of RedSn0w, and click Jailbreak. The jailbreak will process and then it will present you with an options screen.

8. Ensure that “Install Cydia” is checked, and click Next to proceed with the jailbreak process.

9. Once the jailbreak is complete, you should be on your Lock Screen.

10. Place your iOS device back into DFU mode.

11. Go back to the Extras > Select IPSW > and reselect the iOS 6.0 firmware file again. You must select this firmware file again on beta jailbreaks, or else you will get a failure message.

12. On the Extras page click Just boot to perform a tethered boot.

13. You should see a pineapple logo on your device’s screen after a while, as the device boots up.

14. Once the device is booted, swipe to the Home screen’s second page, and wait until the Cydia app icon appears on the page.

~ Woo-hoo, your iOS 6.0, 6.0.1 device is now jailbroken using RedSn0w 0.9.15b3.

iOS jailbreaking is the process of removing the limitations on Apple devices running the iOS operating system through the use of software exploits – such devices include the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and second generation Apple TV. Jailbreaking permits root accessto the iOS operating system, allowing the download of additional applications, extensions, and themes that are unavailable through the official Apple App Store. Jailbreaking is a form of privilege escalation, and the term has been applied on other computer systems as well. The name refers to breaking the device out of its "jail", which is a technical term used in Unix-style systems, for example in the term "FreeBSD jail". A jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS can still use the App Store, iTunes, and other normal functions, such as making telephone calls.

In order to install third party applications to your Android phone, you need to install APK, or Android Package, files. In this article, we will cover the two ways you can install APK files to your Android phone and show you how to take advantage of the wide variety of third party Android applications currently available
